Working hard

Playin' ball, chasing squirrels, and rolling through the yard with that grumpy hound foster brother makes me tired!

My buddy

Whew, had a long fun day at the Lost Dog Adoption event last weekend!  When I got back to the foster house, I just wanted to snuggle up with one of my favorite lost dog volunteers!

Yep, I'll lick your face.

Sleepy!

I don't know about you, but after 9 pm I am just about tuckered out.  I need to find my people to snuggle!  (I also love to cuddle up with my foster brother, but he can be real grumpy, especially if he's sleeping!)

My buddy Joe

So I had a best buddy.  His name was Joe.  He was a big, blue, goober of a pit bull dog.  He was kind of funny too.  He had a gimpy front leg, but that didn't slow him down.  We loved to wrestle, chew sticks (and firewood), and run around the yard.  He got adopted recently and I sure do miss him.  I'm beginning to wonder, will anyone come for me?

Me and Joe, just hanging out!

Yep, nothing like hanging out in the mud and grass!

I'm plum tuckered out.  That foster brother is just barking at 'ol Joe and me.  But we're too tired to move!

Joe, I miss you dude

I'm pretty good at stuff

Like playing fetch.  I can do it all afternoon until I drop from exhaustion!  I'll give the ball up when you ask, or tug and tug and tug if you want to play that sort of game!  In fact, I'm a lot better at this game than my foster brother.  He'll only chase a ball once, maybe.  And then probably won't bring it back.

Come on, throw that ball one more time!

Car rides

I love going for car rides.  I've been a lot of cool places since I've been in foster care.

Maybe you'll come and take me home soon?

The old days, ctd

Well, eventually I grew all my hair back.  And then the foster people took me to the vet.  And this happened.

Really folks?
Apparently I'm all "fixed" now.  The vet people loved me, but boy was I happy to get outta there.  I got used to that cone real quick when I got home too!  Getting through that dog door was more interesting though...

The old days, ctd

One of the best things about this foster house is the dog door - I learned how to use it really quick!  With the help of my stuffed bear, of course.

The old days, ctd

A shot from my Thanksgiving-time trip to New England:

I love to be pet!  Even without all my hair!

The old days, ctd

I thought I'd share a few tales of my early days as a foster dog when I was recovering from my non-contagious demodex mange - and working on re-growing my hair!  Here's a picture of my first night with my foster family - at this point I was wondering if the whole foster thing was a good idea:

My first bath!  Sadly, not my last ...

I love toys

I could just play forever!

Here's one of my favorites: the KONG!

The old days

Here's a picture of me during my recovery!  Despite my lack of hair (I was easily confused with a bald chicken or turkey) my foster people took me on lots of trips and I got to meet lots of people and other dogs.  I was an adventurous mange puppy!

This is a picture of my trip to the shore!

Had to watch out for those hawks and vultures ...

My Story

As you can see, it is pretty rough being a foster dog ...
I had kind of a sad start to life ... I was found as a stray walking the mean streets of West Philadelphia.  A nice lady used to see me on her way to work every day.  And each day she noticed I had less and less hair, until one day, most of it was just plain gone!  She decided to scoop me up and bring me to the city shelter.  I was glad to be off the street, but boy was that shelter stressful!  I got myself so worked up that I went and lost all that was left of my coat!  I looked like a sad little uncooked turkey, not the cute puppy that I am!  Luckily some folks from Lost Dog Rescue found me and took me in!  All my hair came back and I've grown up into a, dare-I-say, handsome young pup.  Now, I'm living large with my foster people and my sometimes-grumpy little-hound foster brother just waiting to find my forever family!
